The 8th Annual Kids on the Rise Auction and Dinner will be held May 4th at the Fairfield Glade Conference Center from 5 – 9pm.  Come early and make your bid on the silent auction items and check out live auction offerings.  A three course dinner will be served at 6 pm.  There will also be 50/50 tickets sold as well as a chance to play PLINKO.  This is a major fundraising event for Kids on the Rise.  A small part of the ticket price will go to KOTR, but the primary funds will come from the auctions.  Ticket price is $35.00 per person.  Tickets are available at the KOTR office located inside the United Fund building at 348 Taylor Street, First National Bank on North Main and on Peavine Road, and at FirstBank on Elmore Road.  Kids on the Rise is committed to helping Cumberland County students reach their full potential in literacy, learning and life.  Please call Bev or Amy at the KOTR office for additional information at 931-459-2388.

Eighth Annual Strawberry Festival and Book/Baked Goods Sale will be held May 5, 2012 from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church,1038 Sparta Highway.  Strawberry shortcake with ice cream and whipped topping will be available.  The cost is $4.50. Strawberries and cakes will be available for sale. The book sale is sponsored by Cumberland Adult Reading Council.

Nashville Ballet's Anne Frank

The Cumberland County Playhouse is happy to announce that in cooperation with the Tennessee Holocaust Commission and the Nashville Ballet they will present three special performances of The Anne Frank Ballet (inspired by the historic book Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl) on Monday, May 7, at 9:00 and 11:00am, and 7:30pm. The ballet – presented as a special benefit for the Tennessee Holocaust Commission - will provide a unique opportunity for Playhouse audiences to experience Anne Frank’s timeless, tragic story in a dramatically new form: the 45-minute Anne Frank Ballet includes a cast of five dancers portraying Peter van Pels, Margot Frank and three metaphorical "sides" to Anne's personality.

The Cumberland County Playhouse continues its 2012 Adventure Theater season with Arlene Hutton's See Rock City.  Set in rural Kentucky in the 1940's, this tender, moving play follows married couple May and Raleigh during the final months of World War II. When victory overseas brings unexpected consequences at home, the young couple is forced to find common solutions to the challenges of a new post-war America. The Cumberland County Playhouse continues its 2012 Adventure Theater season with Arlene Hutton's See Rock City.  Set in rural Kentucky in the 1940's, this tender, moving play follows married couple May and Raleigh during the final months of World War II.
