A Community of the Arts
Visual art organizations and individuals expand the entire spectrum of mediums: painting, quilting, spinning, weaving, clay, metal, basketry, wood, embroidery, bobbin lace, and beading. Much satisfaction is derived from photography and graphic arts groups, film groups, the study of flower arranging, creative landscaping, and the creation of miniature layouts for model trains.

Music can be heard from all corners of the county involving both youth and adults: chamber, brass, bluegrass, country, rock, and gospel. Countless local cafes and grills play host to small bands weekly.
Performance opportunities abound at the world-renowned Cumberland County Playhouse and several production groups. The Palace Theatre in downtown Crossville hosts prominent musicians and theatrical productions in an art-deco atmosphere. Youth and adults are involved in creative physical activities at dance and tumbling studios. There are ballroom dance events, several square dance groups and a contra-dance group.
Charity and giving is a trademark of the cultural arts. Scholarships, educational programs and donations are part of the agenda of large and small groups and individuals.
Cultural networking is often accomplished via the directory of artisans and organizations located on the website of the Cumberland Artisans for Creative Expression - CACE (pronounced KAY-see). The site, located at www.cumberlandart.com, provides contact information, granted by permission, for a wide variety of cultural venues.
